THE COTTAGE

Casa da Quinta do Crasto is a unique farm house that maintains the original architecture after being interventioned in the years 2020 and 2021 so as to provide maximum comfort and well-being to our guests.

The house, a typical local house, is classified as a Rural House or Farmer House. The house, with a gross built area of 425 m2, is spread out in two floors. In the past, the ground floor was used as a cellar and as a warehouse for agricultural tools and for animal slaughter.
The house, as it stands today, is the result of an extension made in the nineteenth century giving it an L-shaped format. This intervention is dated in 1885 as engraved on the entry door stone. There is a monumental Araucaria from Brasil, dating from the same time, that confers typical identity and character of the agricultural region it inhabits. The natural richness of the farm invites our guests to a quiet stay while enjoying all the amenities and the 4 ha of land in perfect harmony with the landscape.

In addition to the main house and the beautiful surroundings, Casa Quinta do Crasto has the Chapel of Nª Senhora da Conceição, the patios, two granaries, a porch, a water tank and a water puddle used for irrigation.

You can also find two Roman Milestones, one valentinian (Emperor Flavius Valentinianus) and another anepigraph, in the surroundings of the Farmouse. Outside the main entrance of the Farm, you can also find a Milestone honouring Emperor Augustus, indicating the XXX mile. All of these milestones are known as the Quinta do Crasto Milestones.

The bucolic and green landscape is bordered by the Coura River and its beautiful banks, with a pedestrian route to the Roman/Medieval Bridge of Rubiães, classified as a Property of Public Interest. This bridge takes you south, along the Camino de Santiago, to the Church of Rubiães, classified as a National Monument.
In Casa da Quinta do Crasto, you can enjoy the landscape, the outdoor patios, the casual environment of being surrounded by chestnut and oak trees overlooking the agricultural valley and the Camino de Santigo that skirts the farm.
