HISTORY AND MEMORY

Quinta do Crasto, with known origin in the 17th century, was possibly first built in the middle ages with the building of a house overlooking the landscape.
The current house, partially built in the 18th century by the Castro e Ceia family, dates of 1691 as engraved on the stone at the Entrance Gate and had as last resident of this family António Brandão de Castro, Knight of the Order of Christ (1789-1828). It was later extended in the 19th century, precisely in 1885. The Chapel, with provision of 1719, was rehabilitated in the 19th century, after the acquisition of the Quinta, in 1884, by the Teixeira Pinto family. Its architecture is baroque and it is located alongside the main gate and a small garden, that together, form the main entrance space to the Quinta. The Chapel is registered in the Parish Memoirs of 1758, its owner at the time, José de Castro.
